I’ve suffered from various sports injuries and I’ve tried a host of natural treatments, from acupuncture and PRP injections to physiotherapy and dry needling. Now my most recent to add to my healing arsenal is red light therapy.
Red light therapy is a natural treatment that uses low levels of red light and infrared light to help heal the body. The light activates the mitochondria in your cells to stimulate healing in skin and muscle tissue.
Harnessing The Power of Light For Faster Healing
Red light therapy mimics the rays of the sun. When red and infrared light is at its highest concentrations during sunrise and sunset, it is the most healing to our bodies.
Benefits of light therapy include: pain relief, reduces inflammation, enhances circulation, speeds wound healing, skin rejuvenation, muscle relaxation and promotes a positive mood.
In addition, light therapy has beauty applications as well. A light therapy mask can improve skins tone and texture and reduce fine lines and wrinkles.
What Light Therapy Has Done For Me
Having used red light therapy on my face for about 9 weeks, I’ve noticed an improved skin tone, reduced fine lines, more glow and skin radiance.
Using the therapy belt has helped me to heal and manage pain in my knee. It’s allowed me to resume lifting heavy weights and boxing. I use it for twenty minutes a day and I’m noticing a lot less inflammation and pain in my knee. Applying it on other sore areas has helped heal them quickly.
