As outdoor time becomes more limited I’ve needed to come up with creative ways to entertain my preschooler.
My son’s finally at the age where he wants to play games. Finding the perfect (free) app for that, hasn’t been easy.
I’ve recently discovered an online gaming website with a collection of thousands of free games to fend off any winter boredom. From classic arcade games, to educational games, they have (almost) everything.
I’m someone who doesn’t have any gaming apps on her phone, other than Tetris and Solitaire, (mostly because my photo library usually eats my storage.) I like finding free online games without a ton of ads to amuse myself that I can access on any device.
I went to plays.org to find some games for my son. They have a kids and a kindergarten category that made it easy to find fun and educational games for young kids.

My son is obsessed with trucks and cars so I looked for something we can both enjoy–a racing game. The Cars Lightning Speed Racing Game for Kids is age appropriate and based on the Cars franchise. The browser saves your progress so when you win a race it unlocks new race levels that you can access later.
You can collect coins during the race to improve your vehicle and lightning bolt tokens for a speed boost. I was really impressed by the quality of this game and it has 32 race tracks. Races in five different countries like Brazil and Italy has good graphics and I like the ability to customize your race car with paint and decals. My son’s face lights up every time we play.
I came across this festive game, called Kindergarten Christmas Lights, where you decorate a house with Christmas lights and knew my son would love it.
We spent last weekend hanging our Christmas lights outside, so the timing of this game felt perfect. Shortly after, I became addicted to decorating the houses myself. It’s just a fun little game, especially leading up to the holidays. When you finish decorating you can add music and turn the lights on and it starts snowing. Pretty cute. I would highly recommend for parents of young kids as a little activity, to foster creativity and holiday spirit!
