I recently attended the grand opening of the new generation of Baton Rouge in Oakville, located at 2005 Winston Park Drive. The makeover of the chain restaurant garners a new upscale feel–similar to the ambience at Milestones.
I can’t tell you how many times I have gone for dinner with friends and ended up eating at a steakhouse. As a lifelong vegetarian, this has been a struggle my entire life–socially eating out and finding something decent and healthy that I enjoy eating.
What beats out Milestones, The Keg and Joey–as upscale, family restaurant chain’s prime competitors–is the vegetarian options at Baton Rouge.
Now, I rarely rave about a veggie burger, but Baton Rouge’s handmade veggie burger is the bomb! It’s taste combination of black beans and chipotle mayo give it a rich flavour and served up in miniature slider size–just for the event. I always wanted to participate in an appetizer plate of sliders and was loving every minute of it!
Other great vegetarian options on the menu are the spinach and artichoke dip and the veggie flatbread that came out with a mountain of sunflower sprouts on the top. I was very impressed that they made the effort to cater to vegetarians–even though Baton Rouge is well-known for their steaks.
The highlight of the evening, is the hummer limo they sent to bring press to and from the event.
Baton Rouge originated in Montreal and is quintessentially french in style and taste–I recommend it!
