The end of Toronto Fashion Week—formerly the biggest bi-annual fashion event in Toronto—was the end of an era.
What seemed to be the downfall of Toronto Fashion Week was the “selling out” of couture to mainstream fashion. When Joe Fresh and Target were showing at Toronto Fashion Week—it was clear that value was placed more on sponsorships than on quality creations.
So what is the future of fashion in Toronto? With a successful sold-out fashion show last year, Startup Fashion Week returns with a week of fashion, business and technology.
Startup Fashion Week offers Torontonians a taste of upcoming Canadian and international designers. Returning for a third season, Startup fashion week offers a foundation for emerging talent to test out their creations on the runway for influential bloggers and media.
With events throughout next week, including informative panel discussions on the business of fashion, to networking events and a “Future of Fashion” runway show.
The aim of Startup Fashion Week is to help entrepreneurs build their brand through networking events, learn about the business side of fashion and manufacturing and providing a platform for influential VIPs and media to see their designs.
Startups; which is anything between an idea and seven years into production are encouraged to pitch their ideas to SFW via email: INFO@STARTUPFASHIONWEEK.COM for consideration next year.
Entrepreneurs receive mentoring and help in creating a fashion business, as well as a runway show and access to VIP networking events with industry professionals.
